Rotary

DTI’s rotary piezo motors represent a quantum leap in design of small size high-performance DC motors. Injection-molded using extremely durable, but light weight engineered reinforced thermoplastics, they combine economical cost with superior precision and ultrafast response/start-stop characteristics. Highly energy efficient, DTI’s rotary motors consume zero power in hold position while still providing significant torque.

DTI’s rotary motors are available as both open-loop control (non-feedback control) and closed-loop control (feedback control) systems; and are offered in a variety of configurations (including non-magnetic). The low cost and superior durability make DTI’s piezo motors the ideal choice for high volume demanding OEM applications where superior performance and economical unit cost are important factors.

Open-Loop Control

In open-loop, motion control of the piezo motor can be achieved either manually or via standard pulse width modulation (PWM) using DTI’s electronic driver board (pcb) or similar low cost drive circuit.

Closed-Loop Control

In the closed-loop system, motion control of the piezo motor is achieved via feedback generated from an optical encoder integrated within the motor assembly. Encoder communication electronics consists of a daughter board (pcb) with a serial (RS-232) port, mounted onto the main driver board. Optional programmable logic control (PLC) software with graphical user interface (GUI) enables control of the motor using standard Windows OS.
